ABOUT THE MOTHER DAUGHTER TEA-TECH TALK
The Mother-Daughter Technology Tea Party was held on May 8, at 10am-12pm. In this event we wished to connect to the gap of technological knowledge between the mother-daughter generation. In this event we invited all girls from Bassett to welcome their mothers, sisters, and even their grandparents to attend our nice event and for them to enjoy some quality bonding time with their own familiar role models. This program had taken our team approximately 2 months to plan out. In our planning process, the girls worked reluctantly to contact businesses to sponsor our program by providing us with donations. We were fortunate enough to have Big Savor donate pan dulce as well as Marie Callender’s donate 2 pies to us. We had also bought drinks and deserts from Monarca Bakery.
At our event we had certain activities that catalyzed stronger relationships between mothers and daughters. Approximately 50 daughters and mothers had shown up and spent 2 hours of quality time with their true role model in life. Most mothers do not have much technological skills or experience with technology as the generation now-their daughters- have, and so this mother-daughter tea tech party, would not only allow mother-daughter fun time but as well allow the daughters to teach their mothers something new about technology that they believed their mother should know about. For our event, our team members have selected an activity that they would like to do with our mothers and daughters. The following are the 6 activities that we have selected for our event: arts and crafts, touch and know, Loteria, mother-daughter quiz, advice to daughters, and an IPhone scavenger hunt. Overall the mothers and daughters alike were moved to connect with their daughters and that made our event successful. The mothers were exceptionally happy, as many usually did not spend time speaking on subjects heart-to-heart with their daughters.

Our Workshops for the Day
Workshop Roations 10:20-11:56
Workshop 1- Mother/Daughter Pop Quiz- Janeli: In this workshop, we asked our mothers and daughters to sit down together and take a quiz on each other to see how well they had known each other’s interests and general facts about each other. We asked typical questions such as; favorite store, favorite app, favorite holiday, and also questions about how the individual interacts to technology to compare the difference of technological interaction between the generations.
Workshop 2- Arts&Crafts (Mother’s Day Cards)-Desiree and Joanna: In this workshop, we provided our mothers and daughters with arts and crafts supplies such as construction paper, marker, clue, and scissors so that the mothers and daughters could enjoy making Mother’s Day cards for the opcoming Mother’s Day holiday.
Workshop 3- Touch and Know-Yanisbell and Janeli: In this workshop we had 3 mothers come up and 1 daughter who would be blindfolded. The blindfolded daughter would feel each of the women’s hand and guess which is her mothers. We then switched roles and had a mother come up and guess which of the 3 young ladies is her daughter. This was a very nerve racking event that had each of the players on edge, but thankfully each player had guessed heir family member correctly.
Workshop 4- Mother/Daughter Advice- Melissa and Lucia: In this event, we gave each mother and daughter a post it, on which the mothers would write advice they would wish their daughters to know and the daughters would write about a question that they wished to ask their mother.
Workshop 5- Loteria- Arizeth: This game is the Mexican version of bingo, differently however that normally it is played that one will black out their card instead of making four across.
Workshop 6- IPhone Scavenger Hunt: In this event, we had the mothers and daughters work together to go through their phones and search for photos as described, such as a first birthday, a good, going to the snow, or beach day.
We have the mother/daughter that had their sheet most complete a t-shirt.
